The Space Shed

Adam raised his weapon and took aim at the Vulags. I was still fiddling around with mine when he pressed the freeze button on his gun. He fired. The icy blast reached the scampering creatures, and they instantly
froze. Their bright yellow bodies were now dulled by a covering of ice.
"We have to go," said Adam. "They won't stay frozen for long in this atmosphere. It's too hot."
"They don't really look so fierce now, do they?" I said. "These Vulags might have sharp teeth, but they... "
"What are you doing?"
Without really thinking, I'd walked up to the three Vulags, which were standing there like statues. "I just want to have a closer look."
"Derek, I've told you the rules of the Planet Exploration Service."
"I know, we've found out what we need to know about the planet, and now we've got to get back to the ship."
"Right, well let's go then."
"But -hey!"
I jumped back. One of the Vulags had growled.
